Introduction

Cordyceps Militaris is mainly produced in China, India, Nepal and Bhutan. It is a complex of the larva and larval carcass of Cordyceps Militaris, a fungus of the ergot family, parasitic on the larva of the bat and moth family. The stroma is singular (occasionally branched), appearing as a slender club-shaped or cylindrical structure, 2-8 cm in length and about 2-5 mm in diameter, often with a clavate or cylindrical apex. The stroma surface is orange-red to bright orange, with fine longitudinal striations, and is brittle and easily broken. It has a faint, slightly fishy odor mixed with a distinctive fungal aroma, and a slightly sweet taste.
