Introduction
Ginseng is the dried root and rhizome of the perennial herb Panax ginseng C. A. Mey. (Araliaceae). The main root is typically cylindrical or spindle-shaped, with a pale yellowish-brown to grayish-brown surface. The upper part exhibits sparse, shallow, and intermittent transverse rings (stem scars), while the lower part often bears two to three lateral roots and numerous slender fibrous roots.It has a faint, characteristic aroma and a taste that is slightly bitter followed by sweetness.
