New Policies Empower Standardization and Innovation in TCM Raw Materials

Post time: 2026-07-17

The year 2026 marks a pivotal moment for the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) industry, characterized by upgraded regulations and a shift toward standardization. The *Special Provisions on the Supervision and Administration of TCM Production*, which took effect on March 1, explicitly authorize manufacturers of proprietary Chinese medicines and TCM formula granules to legally procure "fresh-cut" medicinal materials—herbs processed immediately after harvesting—as production inputs. Complementing this, a support plan involving eight government departments fully backs the establishment of shared processing facilities and automated production lines in key growing regions. By April, 26 provinces had released catalogs of approved fresh-cut varieties; combined with the categories listed in the *Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China*, over 200 types of medicinal materials are now eligible for compliant fresh-cut processing, signaling the formal emergence of a new industry landscape defined by standardization and source-based processing.

Compared to traditional processing methods, fresh-cut processing at the source offers a decisive advantage in enhancing quality while reducing costs. This technique maximizes the retention of the herbs' inherent medicinal properties, avoiding the potency loss associated with traditional methods—such as repeated rehydration, slicing, and drying—while significantly cutting production and logistics costs and minimizing spoilage during storage and transport. The new regulations mandate a full-chain traceability system, crack down on substandard small-scale workshops, and drive the standardization of industry production models. Furthermore, the updated Pharmacopoeia imposes stricter quality standards for raw materials, ushering the TCM industry into an era where superior quality commands a premium price.

Naturalin Agricultural specializes in the field of TCM materials and plant extracts. Leveraging our own standardized cultivation bases and compliant production facilities, we maintain an inventory of over 350 herbal raw materials. Supported by a robust R&D system for active ingredients and rigorous quality control protocols, we offer customized specifications ranging from whole herbs and cut pieces to fine powders.

Looking ahead, we will closely align with emerging industry policies and continuously refine our full-chain layout for authentic medicinal herbs. We will deeply cultivate diverse application sectors, including dual-use medicinal and edible products, dietary supplements, and skincare and wellness—thereby empowering the high-quality development of the global health and wellness industry through high-standard natural ingredients!
